I have a 90 arctic cat cougar. Need to pull the suspension to replace a shock. Never done it. Was told I could use a ratchet tie down strap in place of the spring tool (removal). What am I going to ratchet? I assume I need to loosen the track, ratchet the suspension ?, then pull the bolts, and off comes the suspension. Is this right?

Re: Suspension

Well I answered my own question. I was right.

In removing the suspension I found I need to replace an idler wheel, bad bearing. Bummer is it's the one attached to the spring. Is there an easy way to remove the spring? What would happen if I loosened the long side of the bolt on the idler wheel and held the long side of the spring?
