550 needs more RPM\'s

I have a 99 SS and I made a gearing change from stock 19/39 to 21/39. Since the change the engine RPM's have been 7300, I would like about 500/600 more thru out the entire range. Any Ideas on the best way to get the R's back up??? Thanks, Ken Bauman

Re: 550 needs more RPM\'s

You are over revving the engine, and losing hp!!!!

The 550 reed assist fan cool engine in your SS makes its highest hp at 7100rpm and top torque around 6700rpm

AMS dyno 550 65hp at 7100rpm.

Punch Da Throttle and ROOST!!

Re: 550 needs more RPM\'s

Thanks for the great advice, Now it all makes a little more sense ! I knew that when I set the sled up in fall of 98. And now that you refreshed me on the peak RPM, I understand why it only hit 7300 rpm, the higher the rpm goes the less HP it has
