88 SRV 540 Fouls plugs, help!

Hello-
I just purchased an 88 SRV 540 that fouls plugs constantly. The plugs will be SOAKED with fuel. I fixed the sticking choke,
leaking intake gaskets around the reeds & opened up the carb.(clean & shiny) After fixing this it ran well for a little bit (half an hour),
now it fouls the plugs and runs poor like a vacuum leak again. I checked & there are no leaks I can detect. It seems like a spark issue,
but feels like carberation, crack the throttle & nothing happens. After it fouled the plugs again I checked spark & could not see any
spark on one plug, but it was fouled. Both plugs look the same when fouled & they are wet. It will run OK until it fouls the plugs again
after riding for a few minutes to half an hour. Help !

Re: 88 SRV 540

I noticed a 150 main jet in the carb. when I took it apart, would that be too rich with the stock exhaust?

My "hot deal" Phazer 485cc did the exact same thing. Diagnosis: low compression. Solution: rebuild the top end with an overbore and new pistons and rings. Check your compression!
