800 RMK cranks

I'm about to buy one of these and a friend of mine (who just got one) has been hearing horror stories about the cranks going out at about 1000 miles. Anyone else had/heard any experiences like that?

Re: 800 RMK cranks

I have not heard one thing bad about cranks on the 800's. But then, there is not anyone I ride with that has one either. We all have 700's.

Re: 800 RMK cranks

I live in alaska and have not heard of any failures at all.
I will keep trying to find any news I can. If you're thinking
of buying, do it! This sled has been the best that I have ever owned
so far. You'll love the torque, make sure you get it with a camoplast
141 or the hard durometer 144, you won't be dissapointed!!!

Re: 800 RMK cranks

As long as your turning them at stock rpm's they will live. If it's over revving because the clutching isn't right fix it, and don't do mods that raise the rpm. They will be as bullit proof as the 600/700 motors, just don't spin them up. I've heard of 2 that broke but they were mucho modded, all the stockers have been reliable around here.

Re: 800 RMK cranks

Have a buddy with 1800 miles on his new 800 and not one problem yet - He is a little ticked that my '99 RMK700 will out run and climb his though!

Re: 800 RMK cranks

But then again Powderbound, his 800 is probably not modified to the hilt like yours! Yes?
