Re: XLT WON\'T START COLD

Had the same problem with a '96 XLT. The problem was a sticky float. Tried to fixed it a couple of times but never really got it to stop. I found that shutting off the gas after every ride helped a great deal.

Re: XLT WON\'T START COLD

Mark is absolutly right. We have 2- 94 xlt's and if we dont remember to shut the fuel off after every ride,[ I even let them run a while
on the trailor while changing cloths before the trip home] I will play hell getting them to start the next wk. When I do shut they
off before trailoring them home they start first or second pull with out the choke the next week. It works Every Time! Good luck

Re: XLT WON\'T START COLD

I had the same problem, but I changed the needles and seats and it cured the problem. Lately I've been having trouble getting my
XLT started. After checking compression (5000 miles) at 92#/ cylinder I found my problem. Currently Frankenstein is having open
heart surgery.

Re: XLT WON\'T START COLD

Me too. Filled the tank to the very top on my XLT. Next week later, I found out I forgot to turn off the gas line. Lost about 3/4 of a gallon flowing into the engine. Had about an hour and a half to start the pig. Took off the plugs and cranked and waited, cranked and waiting, etc. Usually good at remembering to turn it off but .... oh well, learn the hard way.
