95 XLT

I have an 95 XLT that will not run on one cylinder. I have done a compression test and all 3 cylinders are the same. It is not a fuel problem because I switched carbs and not an ignition problem either. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Re: 95 XLT

First thing I would check is all the wiring for that cylinder. You could have a spark plug problem as well, I have had new plugs fail right out of the box, You caould have a bad coil, or wiring to that coil. Are you getting fuel to that cylider? Could it be the pump isn't allowing fuel through that line. You said it is not a fuel or ignition problem? How have you determined that?

Re: 95 XLT

Had the same happen to me and after all other options were exhausted found that the crank had slipped between cylinders had to rebuild it. If it is the mag and center it runs on it could very possibly be this. Mine run on all three but would not pack a load on the center and pto as the timing was way off as the pin had slipped between mag and center. The repair shop told me that this is not abnormal on the Polaris triples as the splining they use has a habit of stripping off during the press fit during assembly.
