Polaris Jeting

I have a 1997 XC 440. I would like to experiment with re-jeting. Where is a good place to start, and whats the best way to know you've got it right? Any other performance suggestions you might have would be welcomed!
Thanks for your help.

Joe

Re: Polaris Jeting

Get a good book on carb tuning and/or learn how your carb works before starting. That way you will know what to expect when you make a change.

I always like to check the spark plug color. If they are greyish-brown, you've got it right. Black-too rich. White-too lean.

You can also shine a light into the cylendar though the spark plug hole and check the piston wash. Lot's of black is rich, no black is too lean! Look for black about the size of your thumb nail at the ports.
