i have a 1980 txl,
and i got myself a problem, one of the bolts that hold the cylinders and head on that screw into the crank got stripped out. is there anyway this can be fixed? because without that one bolt on that nut it sucks air bigtime for a heck of a bog. can i tap the crank out and get a bigger bolt? i think its just aluminum.
any help would greatly be appreciated.
Re: crankcase bolt
There is a simple way to cure your problem. Go to your local hardware store or machine shop and get a heli-coil kit. With a heli-coil you simply drill the hole out slightly larger then screw the heli-coil in, this acts like new threads, you will also be able to use the same size bolt as before. There should be more detailed instructions with the kit, so don't worry if you think you need more info.
