PLEASE HELP A SLED HEAD!!

I just bought a 1992 Polaris indy 650 RXL. But a couple days ago I went and filled the gas tank with premium gas to the lid. It hasn't been moved since the day I filled it. But I wen't back the garage and looked at it 2 days after I filled it to the rim. And I noticed that the gas had dropped probably about 2-3 inches. And I checked the gas tank. And I know that for a fact the gas tank is not leaking. I also went to put the key in and here the sled prime it self. wene something kept clicking and clicking and clicking and would not stop. I took the batterie out and charged it. It was definatly low. so I recharged it this morning. I don't know if the batterie drained because I let it click for 30 seconds to a minute. Have you ever heard of this probelm before? I plan on putting the batterie back in the sled and see if that was the problem. And if that doesn't fix it I am going to take it to the snowmobile dealer near me so they can fix it. If you can help me PLEASE DO. thanks, bean

Re: PLEASE HELP A SLED HEAD!!

yeah it has a fuel pump. I put the charged battery back in and the clicking stops and the engine primes itself exelent again. But I still havn't found out why the gas had lowered. I think it might have to do that when the battery goes dead the electric fuel injection also does to. But I don't know. thanks, for replying bean

Re: PLEASE HELP A SLED HEAD!!

Are you sure you dont smell gas? I owned a 93 and 96 XLT's. I found that if you filled them to the brim and let them sit the gas would siphon out the vent tube. This was especially true if you filled it with cold fuel and then let it sit in a warm garage.Thats the tube thats wrapped across the steering hoop. I learned to never fill it to more than 1" from the top of the filler unless I was going riding right away. Hope that helps

Re: PLEASE HELP A SLED HEAD!!

my 92 650 was the same way. If you filled it to the brim, it always drained down a little throught the vent tube..
