Cat Clutching

The sled in question is a little 98 Z 440 cat.

Currently it has studs and that's about it. I'm looking for ideas on a clutch kit to install in it. Or just parts. It had a straight 53 helix from the factory. I just installed a 50/57 and am going to test it out tomorrow. Any ideas of what else could help this thing go a little faster??

Thanks

Re: Cat Clutching

The 57 first angle might be a little to agressive for the 440 fan. A 55/53 might be a better choice. The best thing you can do is make sure the sled is performing to its potential. Check the plugs and piston wash to see if it is running too rich. If it has stock jetting you can drop 1 main jet size (if still rich go down another) and still be safe. The second thing to do is make sure the rpms at full shift are 7000-7100 for max hp. If you want better acceleration try a purple primary spring, cat 52.5g weights, and yellow secondary spring. If you want to jusy a kit D&D is a good bet.

Re: Cat Clutching

thanks for the help. My sled is rich. Stock jets in it are 270's and the chart says I should have 250's in it so I think I will run some 260's this weekend and test.

Thanks for the help.
