\'84 SRX dies???

I have an 1984 Yamaha SRX with a Xenoah engine in it. The problem is when the snowmobile is being warmed up with the track lifted off the ground it will start to make a Bwaaaaah sound and then die. Before it dies it runs beautifully then after about 10 seconds of running it bwaaaaahs down and dies. I checked the fuel filter and pump and they all work. It sounds just as if the carb bowls get sucked dry and never fill back up. What could be the problem?

I think you're on track. Sounds like it is not getting fuel. Have you cleaned the carbs? It could be gunk getting sucked into the main jet. Does it start back up OK or do you have to pull for a while?

Re: \'84 SRX dies???

The carbs were cleaned and all the jets were checked, but maybe I missed something. I am going to have look later tonight. Yes, the engine starts after about 2 or 3 pulls when the engine is cold. It runs with no problems for about 10 seconds then it bwaahs down and dies. I'll tear the carbs apart and let you know what I find.
