1990 Yamaha Phazer II

hi i just bought a 1990 yamaha phazer and the steering is sloppy. My dad recommended that i bore out pivot arm and put a different size bolt in it. i was just wondering if this is a common problem. Also, does anyone know how fast this sled will go? thanks a lot

Sloppy steering is a common problem on those sleds. You can get a shim kit from the dealer to take a lot of the slop out of the steering knuckles which are on the front edge of the strut above the ski. With stock gearing those sleds were capable of about 90 mph.
