PRIMM, Nev.-The new team on the block is quickly becoming the team to beat in the 2008 Championship Off-Road Racing Series (CORR). Las Vegans Rob MacCachren and Bryan Freeman both captured class wins again to lead Las Vegas' Menzies Motorsports six-driver team during Round 4 of the 2008 CORR Series Sunday before nearly 6,000 spectators as the two-day event concluded at the Las Vegas International Off-Road Raceway in Primm, Nev.

Racing was held Sunday at the 9,000-seat dirt raceway located behind Terrible's Buffalo Bills Resort and Casino that includes a one-mile purpose-built race course

Team leader MacCachren earned his 66 career CORR class race win and third this year in Pro-2 and finished second in the Pro Buggy division after winning the first three races of the season. After qualifying fifth Sunday morning in Pro-2, an inverted start put him fifth at the green flag and after slipping back to 10th on Lap 2 of the 18-lap race in the No. 21 Rockstar Ford F-150 he worked his way back up to fourth when a competition yellow flag came out after lap 9. Picking a high line to the first turn after the restart, MacCachren got by two vehicles and then passed Carl Renezeder's No. 17 truck on turn 3 of Lap 11 to earn a 1.36 second victory margin over Renezeder in the 21-truck field.

In Pro Buggy, MacCachren qualified second Sunday morning, started eighth in the invert, finished second out of 27 starters in the No. 921 BFG Tires Honda-powered AlumiCraft open wheel desert race car behind fast qualifier Greg George's Funco-VW. MacCachren maneuvered his way to fourth after Lap 1, third after Lap 2, went up to second on Lap 4, slipped back to third on Lap 6, but then moved back to second on Lap 8 and held it to the checkered flag.

Freeman, a third generation desert racer from Las Vegas, completed a sweep for the weekend in the Single Buggy race, qualifying first, overcame a 10th starting position on the inverted start, was second to his Menzie's Motorsports teammate Brock Krahenbuhl after Lap 1, passed Krahenbuhl on lap two and pulled away to win the 14-lap race. In his first full season of short-course racing, Freeman dominated the field for his fourth straight win in 2008 in No. 307 Nevada Off-Road Buggy Fraley-VW. His victory margin in the field of 33 starters was 1.981 seconds over second-place Sean Kennedy.

After leading a lap for the first time this season, Krahenbuhl, son-in-law of Menzies Motorsports owner Steve Menzies and also a CORR rookie, came across in third place for the second time in four races this season in the No. 312 KMC Fraley-VW.

Besides MacCachren, Freeman, and Krahenbuhl, the Menzies Motorsports lineup also includes fellow Southern Nevada desert racers Bryce Menzies, Bruce Fraley and Larry Job in Primm.

Menzies, at 20 the youngest driver on the team and son of team owner Steve Menzies, qualified in 18th Sunday morning in Pro Lite but decided to park the "bandaged" No. 7 Fox Shox Ford Ranger and did not race the main event. Menzies is still recovering from significant neck muscle trauma and strain he received during a violent rollover during media day activities on Friday. .

After qualifying 11th,in the 25-truck Pro Lite field Fraley, a noted off-road chassis builder and racer, was 'pinballed' (hit from behind and pushed into the truck in front of him) on Lap 7 in his No. 12 MSD Ford Ranger resulting in significant rollover that put him out of the race. Unlike his teammate Menzies, Fraley was not injured in his accident.

Job, who had qualified fourth Sunday morning in the Pro Buggy division, repaired a flat tire in the hot pits during the mandatory competition yellow flag to finish an impressive seventh in the No. 907 Mastercraft AlumiCraft-Honda

"Menzies Motorsports is definitely committed to winning race which certainly suits my style," said MacCachren, who also races in the SCORE Desert Series with Mark Post in the No. 1 Rockstar/Makita

Ford F-150 SCORE Trophy-Truck. "In Pro 2, our truck was set up by Dave Clark and the crew superbly and I was able to pick the right lines to chip our way around people and then finally get the lead. Our BFGoodrich Tires definitely helped us get the lead and then to keep it. In Pro Buggy, the shifter problems we had Saturday morning resurfaced and that slowed us down enough for Greg George to beat us. I have to thank Steve Menzies for doing what it takes for Menzies Motorsports to be successful. In four races, we have nine wins already which has caused people to take notice of the new team in the series. It was really special to be able to get four wins this weekend in front of our hometown friends and families."

Menzies Motorsports is based out of a state-of-the-art 31,000-square foot race shop in southwest Las Vegas and the new team also has a test facility with a one-mile track south of Las Vegas which is laid out nearly identically to course at the Las Vegas International Off-Road Raceway.

Kroyer Racing Engines of Las Vegas builds the Ford truck engines and the Honda Pro Buggy motors for Menzies Motorsports while Southern California's FAT Performance builds the VW Single Buggy engines.

Menzies Motorsports, owned by prominent Las Vegas contractor Steve Menzies, is making a major

impact despite being only in its second season of existence and first year with more than two drivers.

Rounds 3 and 4 of the CORR Series will air both on the Speed Channel and NBC TV on a delayed basis. A two-hour show is scheduled to air at 4 p.m. (PDT) next Saturday (May 24) on Speed TV and a one and one-half hour version is set to air at 9:30 a.m. (PDT) on Sunday, June 15 on NBC.

Next up for Menzies Motorsports will be Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2008 CORR Series, to be held June 7-8 at the Los Angeles County Fairplex in Pomona, Calif.
