Re: Enduro?

I may be wrong, but I believe "enduro/rally" means a race like the Paris-Dakar Rallye, which traverses alot of terrain, sometimes through various countries, and often lasting several days or more. These types of rally races are more popular in North Africa, given the wide expanse of terrain. Of course, I could be wrong, but at least that's what I've envisioned "enduro/rally" to mean.

Take care,

Re: Enduro?

Enduro's are timed races, a group of 6 or 7 riders will start, then 1 minute after that, the next row will start, and every minute after untill all riders have started. There are check points along the route to make sure you don't take a short cut. You have to hit the checkpoint in a given amout of time, figured by your starting time/row. Getting to a check point too late gets you penalty points, getting there early earns you more penalty points. The idea is to zero each check point. I know this is a brief explanation, hope it helps. Oh, and they run these races all over the U.S.

Re: Enduro?

A cross-country rally is a glorified enduro race for both bikes and cars. By glorified I mean at least 5 days with at least 400 km a day of times stages. The Paris Dakar is more like 20+ days covering at the very least 10.000 km. These races are governed by the FIA (<a target="_blank" href=http://www.fia.com>www.fia.com</a>) which governs most motor sports outside the US. Most cross-country rallies however take place in a single country like the Rally of Egypt, which spans 7 days and covers 3.500+ km. They’re just called cross-country since the Dakar rally started the fad.
