Made out of 1.5"x.120wall, welded to boxed in frame rails and shock mounts.

Yes, it is for weight distribution.It sits immediately behind the gas tank i relocated. Going to glass bed sides looses alot of weight on the rear. It is light to start with. I took it to the desert over the weekend, and it performs how i like it too.
