Re: WANTED- Prerunner bumper for 93 toyota

Hi MOTIRACER,

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but Duffco Enterprises makes and sells bolt-on prerunner bumpers with skid plates. They have a website at www.duffcoenterprises.com . Camburg Engineering (www.camburg.com) also sells Duffco prerunner bumpers.

I got one from Duffco and had them make it out of 1.5" O.D. x .120" wall thickness round steel tubing (their standard bumper is 1.5" O.D. x .090" wall thickness) for my Tacoma. If I had to do it all over again, I would ask them to make it out of 2" O.D. x .135" wall thickness for a slightly more beefier look and a little more added strength.

I was not satisfied with the mounting brackets that came with it, so I had a local welder (R & A Steel Fabricators in De Soto, TX) fabricate some stronger brackets. Also, it came without any support braces for the ends, so the local welder made some for me that bolt up to the body mounts in 4 places total. It now bolts up to the frame in 6 places total and to the body mounts in 4 places total (for a total of 10 places). I don't know if it is sturdy enough to withstand a deer hit or a minor fender bender, though, but it sure feels solidly mounted after having the fabrication done by the local welder.

I submitted a "product review" article on it to Sean (Kraz4x4), editor of the Tacoma section at ORC. Hopefully, ORC will publish it and you can see pics of it if you're interested.

Hope this helps. Take care,

Re: WANTED- Prerunner bumper for 93 toyota

Hello Again,

I forgot to tell you that Camburg and Duffco have pics of the prerunner bumper on their websites. Also, if you're looking for pics of prerunner bumpers to get an idea of something you want to design yourself, you may want to check out the inland prerunners website. They have a photo gallery of some of their members' trucks that show their prerunner bumpers. I believe their website is at: http://prerunner.com (as opposed to www.prerunner.com - which is owned by ORC).

Hope this helps. Take care,

I can make this for you if you want? Cool thing is that you tell me what you want me to make it out of and what you want it to look like. No cheesy dime a dozen designs and I make stuff to last not like aftermarket junk! Let me know?
