i live in saudi arabia, the desert here is amazing. i want to build one of those desert runners and blast across the countryside, but on a budget. i have seen rancho sell 'prerunner' springs, and many other companies sell similar kits, setups and equipment.
i would like to know what kind of trucks are a suitable starting point, what kind of mods are needed to take the abuse. i have also read something about classes...class 2 , class 3 what is the difference between these?

i am a four wheeler and have a 1978 blazer that sand dune blasts, but this kind of driving is new to me and has me very curious, please include as much detail as possible.
thanx for all the help.

Re: newcomer

Are you the same nyyef from the old BBS list? Welcome back!

In SCORE, Class 2 is a pro truck. $105,000 to start with motor, and it is a spec truck created by Ivan Stewart. Limited motor, gears wheel travel, chassis design, the work.
Class 3 is a short wheelbase truck, usually 4x4 (you're Blazer is a good example). These trucks are a pain to the kidneys, but they are fun! It ranges from '69 (spit)Ford Broncos to Y2K KIA's!

I would consider getting either Deaver or National Springs for their setups. They will be more expensive, but it will be done right the first time, and that's important. Get some good shocks, too, like Bilstein's with reservoirs or some Sway-A-Way or Kings. The price is worth it!

Hope that helps.
