Best oem front spindles?

I'm seriously getting ready to toss all my 4X crap in the trash and just go 2X.
I will need to fab A-arms and wondered what is the best choice spindle to use. I thought maybe 5 on 4-1/2 for the lugs because I will be running a Ford 9" in back. But whatever is the best choice for strength, function, and availability.

Re: Best oem front spindles?

I dont have the answer but i do have a question. Are all Ford 9" 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern? Reason i ask is because im considering a 9" for the rear of my 94 2wd. Thanks.

You might consider something off of a domestic 1/2 ton.

Re: Best oem front spindles?

The cars are 5 on 4.5, from what I've seen the trucks are bigger. I think it's 5 on 5 or 5.5. I was just going to get mine from a car, probably the spindles too. I guess the old "Mustang II" front suspensions are the ticket for street rods, and since I also need to get a suspension for my car it would be nice if they were the same.

9" are real cool in the Toy because they look stock. Just make sure you get the cool heavy duty housing, the one that looks like the Toy. I don't know the width but the Lincoln Versales is supposed to have a narrow 9". So if you're lucky maybe you won't have to narrow it.

I believe it's the 78' Lincoln Versilles (sp?) that has the rear disc brakes too. And the trucks are 5 on 5.5 as far as I know.
Are you still pissed about new years? I'd be too. The best spindle that I can think of would be a chevy spindle. Check out JD Fabrication. They have an 83ish toy with custom subframe and a-arms on chevy spindles. Looks awesone too. check it out here http://www.jdfab.com/forsale/truck.htm

Yup, not happy about New Years. The broke axle put a hurtin on the Locker during the 140mile drive home and towing the trailer.
I'll be checkin the junkyard this week. I scored a coupla TH350 trannyz last week, but was too tired to look for 9"z or spindles. If I got chev spindles I'd have to re-drill them, and the way I go thru parts I don't know if that's such a good idea. I'll just have to see what the junkyard has to offer.
