You guys are awesome, slowly im gettin there fixing everything!!! OK, now my AC and heater controls are whigging out on me. Just started. I press defrost, and put the air on high, and all the lights start blinking on the heater controls, such as where you want the air to blow too, feet, mid, or top, they all just sit there and blink. even on AC and heat, doesnt matter. I hear the blower blowing, but no air seems to come out unless you put it on low... all the lights just blink? anyone seen this? whats the deal.. thanx!

sorry i can't help you, but my heater controll switch and all that broke ayear ago. dealer only part and they wanted 120 for it...i called the J-yard and they wanted 70. i said screw that crap. i dont like my A/C anyways, and would rather not have it working....noe more thing to break and i like the windows down anyhow. as fara s the position switch...it runs to a little moptor in a goofy shaped black box that drives the linkages. this is what moves the "flapper gizmo" to change air flow. i removed my motor and tried replacing it as it seemed pretty bad when testing with 12V power source...not the problem so i scrapped the whole deal. took the motor out. and connected a mechanical linkage made out of brazing rod. coat hanger would work too. its all the same. anwyas, now i can change my air flow position by pulling/pushing this. all mechanical and nothing to fail....i like things better that way

Yep, same thing happened to me. I guarantee it is just a bad connection between your control unit and the door mode actuator, which is that little black box right above your accelerator pedal. Wiggle the connections there, and wiggle the connections behind the control unit, if you can squeeze your hand up there. If not, you have to take it out, and spray contact cleaner between the contacts.

FITM, are you referring to my problem or to the original post? if i could fix it it'd be kinda cool since i have the new motor just sitting there. if not...the old linkage wirks just fine...although i cant have bi-level. just defrost, dash and feet

Ok guys,

Peacock, I was referring to the original post, but I too replaced the actuator figuring that was the problem, wrong. $90.00 later, damn defrost didn't still work right. But the black box above the gas pedal does control the positions so that should be the problem. GM would of been better off using a vacuum controlled setup instead of the electrical type. Funny thing is, the black box linkage on my truck came apart today, as it tends to do every once in a while. nesluopetan, let me know if it works, if not I'll have to think some more

don;t ever leave a wheel and axle unlocked in detropit. i had mine pass me once and parked o nthe side of teh road. went to get a buddy and some tools and when i got back i was missing the shaft and wheel.

oh, andother thing, don;t drive 72miles with the E-brake on. it can indirectly result i nthe purchase of a whole new drivetrain.
