Red hot headers on a \'02 660 Raptor

I've noticed that when I ride at night I look down at my header pipes and they are glowing red! I was told by somebody at a honda shop that this is normal. I am running a K&N jet kit and a K&N air filter any help with this would be appreciated. You can always try going up a jet size and see if that makes it run cooler.

Take a look at your spark plug. That should tell you a bit about whats going on in there...

Re: Red hot headers on a \'02 660 Raptor

Was in the desert last weekend, and witnessed a 660 Raptor(out of the 3 that surrounded my 700) and he had red headers. I told him and he not only said it was normal, but mine were too....i looked and mine were not glowing at all.

Its not uncommon, its just that in the sun you dont notice as much. Get her good and hot then pull in the garage and shut the door. With out much light you will notice it big time.
