Need help deciding on wheather to put 22x8x10 or 23x10x10 or 22x11x10 GATORSon the rear of my 99 Kawasaki 220 Bayou with 22x8x10s GATORS on the front. This atv came with stock turf tires that just arnt getting up hills on wet days. The rear tires were 22x10x10s on 10x8.5 rims. The front tires were 21x8x9,bought 10x5 rims for the new 22x8x10 GATOR tires. My question is with low end horse power being most important to me what is the best set up without loosing low end horse power? I have heard that the taller the tire the more low end horse power is lost . Does that mean the same when it comes to the wider the tire? Some one please help me figure this out! Re: ATV Tires
You will lose low end power from using a taller tire because it basically changes your overall gearing, and you wil also lose low end power with a wider tire because a wider tire is usually heavier than a narrower version of the same tire. I'm not sure, but you might be able to get the Mudlites in a 22 or 23 inch tire which would help reduce the power loss on that little 220.
