As far as the break in just take it easy for a few hours. Run it for 15 mins and then shut it down for 10 mins thats waht me and my brother both did for about 2 days on the weekend we got them.As far as the Z400 Doing against the raptor in a pit it will do just fine i have a 03 raptor and my brother has a kfx400 same quad as yours and he does fine with staying right near me in the sand pits but when it comes to dirt roads and trails that are open enough to haul a$$ I smoke him. I do like the kfx and z400 wider stance and suspention better though.

With my z, i road it sanely for about a month. Came with the Yoshi complete system and once it was broken in I took it back to the dealer and they rejetted with a comple jet kit. I put the K&N kit on it before I took it back. It's completely dialed in and screems!!!! The Raptor or the new 450 may be a faster but the z will kick on the tighter rides.
