Gas protest, thought I\'d share

I got this email today where someone is trying to start a 1-day boycott of gas stations on May 19th. I thought I'd post it here just in case anyone wants to participate.

</font><blockquote><font class="small">In reply to:</font><hr />

I received this in an email from a friend. Please read -

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THEM" DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

I've seen this one before. It won't really do a lot of good to boycott, because you need gas. They know you'll be at their pumps the next day.

Its going to take more than protesting for a day to the prices down. It would take months of protesting to get them to lower the price.

Yep, when it comes to fuel, they have us by the balls. Either pay up or hop on your bicycle

Re: Gas protest, thought I\'d share

I don't think one day of inconvience to the nation would hurt the gas companies. The very next day there would be a boom in sales. It won't work that way. Maybe if you buy gas at cheaper places besides Exxon and Mobile etc. Force a price war. That might work, but what would work best is if inflation never would happen. That goes for the price of everything.

Re: Gas protest, thought I\'d share

I already do this, beings as everything else is getting so freaking expensive, I boycot the gas stations for weeks on end, ride my cycle or walk. If things get tough enough the trucking and shipping companies will step in and they will plain boycot the movement of ANYTHING, and that WILL get the ball rolling in the gov. to do somthing. If you wanna blame someone you need only look at the current administration, NEVER NEVER EVER PUT OIL PEOPLE IN OFFICE, they just make themselves richer and screw the rest of us

Re: Gas protest, thought I\'d share

It is not just oil people. It is rich people that had everything given to them, including a good job. We need working people, not lawyers and party animals like Teddy.
Hey, but what do I know. Just that I don't like anyone in office or running for office. Oh yah, and a bunch that will be running for office that have not announced yet.

You sound a lot like me. I always vote for the best candidate, so I don't vote.

Re: Gas protest, thought I\'d share

I hate this gas prices. But it looks like we are going to have to put together better than this. It's alright about or more than $2.00. Maybe if we don't buy gas over the weekend or something. Or maybe fill up our vehicles so it will last maybe for a few days. That might work. But other than that. They know we are going to buy gas one way or another. We either going to win or loose. Hopefully, we can figure out something.
