Figures...

When did this country go all Yuppie on us?
I was checking my email today and saw a thing for best cars of 2004 so i figured id give it a look...somehow not to my surprise here are some results.
Here's Kiplinger's list of Best in Class 2004 models:

Under $17,000: Hyundai Elantra GT
$17,000 to $23,000: Toyota Camry LE V6
$23,000 to $30,000: Infiniti G35
$30,000 to $40,000: Mercury Marauder
Over $40,000: Lexus LS 430
Sports Car: Chevrolet Corvette
Station Wagon: Volvo XC70
Minivan: Toyota Sienna
Small SUV: Ford Escape XLT
Midsize SUV: Acura MDX
Big SUV: Cadillac SRX (tie)
Nissan Pathfinder Armada (tie)
Small Truck: Chevrolet SSR
Big Truck: GMC Sierra 1500 Extended Cab

I figured Suv would be a Caddy becuase thats the big trend right now like Vans were for awhile back in the 70s or 80s or whenever that was(before my time) thank god...
What really torqued me off was the SSR getting the small truck one, I mean really you would think the Dakota, Ranger, or S10 would get it. The SSR seems more like a sports car to me, like the El Camino. Then the big truck category. Since when is a half ton a big truck? I dont see how a 1 ton, regular or dually wouldnt of ranked higher then a Xcab 1500. Well Ill stop my rant right here I guess. Here is the link for the rest of you guys if you wanna see it.

Re: Figures...

Its funny, its not exactly clear what was used as a basis for the ratings, "Value" is kinda vague, its not like rating them by sales.

Most of this list doesn't surprise me, I've read a lot of stuff on this lately, so I can kinda expect what to see. The Camry has been doing quite well the last while, but I expected to see more Hondas on there.....well the MDX counts I guess....but its not a passenger car.

Cheers,
