popups getting out of control on this site?

I've got a popup-blocker so they aren't a problem, but lately it seems they pop up everytime I click something on this site. Anybody else getting this or do I have a clever trojan horse that I don't see? PJC said they were only supposed to come up once per session, maybe they need more $$$ now?

Re: popups getting out of control on this site?

I've noticed the exact same thing... It seems every time I click a link here at the BBS whether it be a thread, the main index, or any of the forums, I get a minimum of 1 and maximum of 3 different pop up windows...

I am beginning to become quite irritated by it, as I have yet to install a pop up blocking program, however it looks like it's time for me to do so...

I'm unsure if it's because I deny the cookies on them or not... I don't feel like allowing the cookies for the crap in order to find out...

I get one popup on my first visit. As long as I don't kill that internet explorer process I never get another popup. Even as I spawn new windows.

They have started in the last couple of days. Before it was just when I first opened the BBS, now it seems every forum I go to.....

and then this.... .....

Re: popups getting out of control on this site?

I am at work on a network behind a firewall. I used to get some but I haven't seen one in about 3 weeks. I do accept all cookies because I have a program to block popups and cleans unwanted crap (programs, links, etc. ) that allow other sites to look where I go etc. IT is called Spybot. IT is free and worth it in every way. Since iHAve had it I run spybot once a week and it takes care of all popups and other crap.

Here is the link:

SpyBot

Hope this helps.....

Beware of weatherbug!!!
It is spyware.

btspyder:
I've heard good things about spybot. Thanks for the link.
I'll try it out when I get Windows reloaded (had a little partition problem before installing Linux that I'm using now )

Muddy, what OS you running?
And if you (or anyone else for that matter) want a good anti-spyware program to inspect/clean your computer, get Adaware, it works great!

Re: popups getting out of control on this site?

I just downloaded Spybot from the link that spyder sent and have already noticed a serious drop in pop ups. Thanks for the link..
