Shipping beer through states

is it possible to ship beer from state to state? i wanna ship some from TX and just wondering if there's a legal, safe, effective way/service to do this. also, flying from state to state, is it legal to carry/pack beer either in my carry one or in my checked luggage?

Re: Shipping beer through states

i just read some on beer enthusiast sites - flying with beer shouldn't be a problem, either carry on or checked luggage. the biggest thing is packing it good and getting searched and needing to open the beer so that they can confirm it is beer rather than some toxic chemicals. a lot depends on the flight staff but, for the most part, it can be done with no problems. as for mailing/shipping beer, thats more tricky...USPS won't(illegal) and other shippers don't. of course, it can still be shipped if you pack things REALLY good so a leaky bottle doesn't cause inspectors to feel the need to confescate the package, and if you do not tell them that it is beer. so, there are ways around the system, they're just not risk free. and depending on state laws, jailtime and hefty fines can be given to mailers and/or senders of confuscated beer packages.

anyway, i was just curious - my fiance was here in tx for the first time in a long while, and he mentioned how much he missed drinking Shiner Bock. he's up in WA so, he can't buy it there. I figured i'd send him some now and again so he doesn't go through withdrawals

Re: Shipping beer through states

I shipped a few cans of beer to Oregon last fall, via UPS, and there was no problem. I had packed it in a box along with some other stuff.
