Anybody a umpromise.com member?

I was wondering if any of you were a www.upromise.com member. GM sent me a bunch of promotional stuff (2 envelopes and a box) and this was one of the things they sent me. It almost seems too good to be true so I'm just wondering if it is. Most things like this have a monthly fee but this one doesn't seem to.

Re: Anybody a umpromise.com member?

My wife signed up our son about a year ago. It doesn't add up to huge amounts, only a couple dollars here and there, but could be significant over 16 years or so. The trick is to get other family members (grandparents, childless aunts and uncles) to sign up too. We have a business so Staples adds up. Pep Boys gives 4% and with what I spend there that adds up. JC Whitney is 3% so I order there sometimes. You have to pay attention to the participating companies and try to use them. Naturally it doesn't make sense to pay 5% more to get 2% on UPromise so have to watch that too. New companies are always added and some drop out like ToysRUs just did, so have to keep that in mind as well. All in all, what the heck, it's free.

We are doing that for our 2 girls, as well as having thier own college accounts in the stock market. I say what the heck.. as long as I'm going to buy from those stores anyway... may as well get some of it put toward their account.
