cheap entertainment

the boys and i were fishing a few weeks ago and we got bored so we caught a couple of salamaders ... of course they insisted that they were their new pets so we took them home and put them in a terrarium . since then they are always packing them around the house ,they put them in their toy trucks and push them around the house, pack them around the house in there shirt pockets ( one unfortunate individual didnt survive the "Maytag gauntlet" and i found it's mummified corpse in the dryer lint screen ), they even have salamader races both on foot and "Hot Wheels assisted". funny how the hundreds of dollars worth of toys that they have just sit around now that they have those salamanders ...... Re: cheap entertainment

Kid's will do the funniest thing. My mom told me that when I was a little boy I would find all the bugs and frogs and stuff around the yard and hide them . Well at the bottom of a pair of steps we have going from our porch down to the yard there was a couple of big flat slate stones for the bottom , Well I used to pick the rock up throw my new friends under there to be safe and drop the rock and go looking for more . And i alawys wondered why they wern't all still there when I picked the rock back up again , Splat!! Kids!

Re: cheap entertainment

I never would have thought of it again vonwarner, but I used to drag the little buggers home when I was a kid also .
My mother was never too impressed .
Great fun for the boys though....LOL.

There's a guy that works for me, he's 22 or so. I've caught him on more than one occasion picking up rocks and boards to smash the spiders underneath.

Re: cheap entertainment

when my sis and i were in elementary, we'd go outside and harass the horned-toads just to get them to spit lol we'd capture them and stash them in our hideout(a 5'x5'x5 ply wood box with only half a wall on one side as or door and half a wall on the otherside as our lookout window ). to keep out interest, we'd battle the huge red ants and horned-toads or and lizards we'd catch

Re: cheap entertainment

Oh man, that takes me back to the good ol' days.

We used to catch salamanders and crawdads in the creeks in the woods when we were young. It was fun to lift a rock and find some salamanders to grab by the tail, of course the tail would just fall off and wiggle around on the ground like a worm.
