Local Radio Station

I recently found out that a local country station has pulled the Dixie Chicks off the air for a comment made by a member regarding president Bush. I'm not exactly sure on the details of the comment, but obviously she was not praising him. For some reason this has pissed me off. The station's bases for pulling the Dixie Chicks off-air is that they support our troops and our President and it's un-American to go against that and to question or criticize Bush. What do you guys think of this? I'll try to post some more details as I find out. Here's what they have on their website.

"DIXIE CHICKS MUSIC PULLED FROM THE AIR SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS!!
KUPL Program Director Cary Rolfe has issued the following statement regarding the Dixie Chicks on 98-7 KUPL..."many of you have called and emailed your opinions regarding the recent statement made by Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks. While KUPL hopes for a peaceful resolution to the Iraq conflict, we do support our President and military personnel, therefore we will no longer play Dixie Chicks music until the situation is resolved to our satisfaction." Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks has issued this statement " As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect. We are currently in Europe and witnessing a huge anti-American sentiment as result of the perceived rush to war. While war may remain a viable option, as a mother, I just want to see every possible alternative exhausted before children and American soldiers' lives are lost. I love my country. I am a proud American."
KUPL welcomes your opinion on the request lines at (503) 733-5000 or (800) 533-K-U-P-L. Send us an email at [email protected] KUPL values your input!"

Re: Local Radio Station

Personaly I think they should tell her to stay in Europe and that she isn't welcome back here. Maybe a few years in those crappy countries over there would help her get her head back on straight. Same goes for anybody else who dosn't like our country or thinks they shouldn't have to learn our langauge or honor OUR custums, boot their a$$es out of our country.

Re: Local Radio Station

It was a stupid thing for her to say. I imagine she was caught up in the moment and said what she said without really thinking about it. However, she did say it and now she and the rest of the band have to face up to the consequences.
