Even Country music is betraying us

Just read on the internet that the Dippy Chicks are the latest to dog our president and the war effort. The article claimed they announced in London that they were ashamed that Bush and them came from the same state.

Hey Dizzy Chicks... not only does your music suck, but now you have turned into Jane Fondas... Traitors..

Time to turn off the TV and the radio... Get in the spot light and now you know everything about foriegn policy and how to run a country?? Last I heard the Dip [bleep] Chicks sing was a lame song about hoeing a row of Tobacco and sitting on a porch... Thats where you belong with your mouth shut!!

Sorry for the rant.. I've had it with the so-called entertainment community...

Where is Toby Keith when you need him??????

Re: Even Country music is betraying us

Theres always a few clowns in the entertainment community that speak up during these times....sometimes they're good, sometimes not...but they do get noticed for sure.
As for the Dixie Chicks, I don't know how "country" they are supposed to be, I hear them on the local pop station all the time.
When I think of country music, I think of "luckenbach Texas", and "the Gambler"...from the old days...not the stuff they play today. Just my thoughts.

Re: Even Country music is betraying us

i didnt even know where the dixiechicks were from, i agree,
music used to be better when they wrote there own music,
and actually played there own instruments, waylon, willie,
cash, etc, when i think of texas, its top five, with all
its history, etc, i wish my state had more guys like bush,
instead of all these sissy liberals running around here,
we give in to all these civil liberty groups etc,we let murderes out of jail cause they deserve another chance,
then they kill again

Re: Even Country music is betraying us

What got me about that incident was they were outside the US and made the comment about Bush. It seems to me if you want to protest the Iraq issue it should be done in your own country. When comments are made outside your country it gives it the appearance of treason. I wouldn't call what they did treasonous but it really makes it close.

I told my wife I wouldn't have bought their album if those comments were made earlier. I am really dissappointed in the Dixie Chicks.

Re: Even Country music is betraying us

well, i am disappointed that a statement like that was made by Natalie...Natalie Maines...btw, from Lubbock, Texas..her dad is Lloyd Maines(a tx country legend - look it up and read how damn country they are). Her family and the original Dixie Chicks were a really traditional country band. It wasn't until Natalie joined the band did their style change.

I love their music, love what they're all about - yeah, they can say whatever they want about whatever they want (even if it does clash with my hopes of what they'd say). I am disappointed though, but I do understand and support the boycott of the Dixie Chicks on Tx Radio.

btw, you guys should read up on the dixie chick history before you go off talking how they're not country....all that commotion with sony over their contract - a direct relation to music style.

Hey Shorts, when I said "I don't know how country The Dixie chicks are" is because I don't have any Dixie Chick CDs, and I don't listen to any country music radio stations, but I still hear their music...on pop and light rock stations....thats all I was trying to say....I've never heard any of their music that wasn't either on the radio, or MuchMusic. Anyhow, the songs that I hear by them (ie: "Earl"), aren't what I consider to be traditional country music....no matter what their heritage is. Just my $.02
Now as far as their history is concerned, and I don't remember much, but I did see a program on them one night, and there was a different girl that left the band wasn't there...and all that was left was the two sisters? I thought they were ready to crash and burn until Natalie came along and revitalized them with her "style". At least thats how I thought it went, my memory might be foggy. Anyhow, just my view, nothing more.....me of course being in another country, hadn't heard a thing about anything they said publicly about the US, until I heard it on here.

Re: Even Country music is betraying us

pop and light rock station are taking a lot of country songs and sticking them on their playlists after the fool with the sound a bit - granted the dixie chicks as well as a lot of other country artist are being "pop-ified". the dixie chicks have three albums out now, and there are different styles to each one. their latest album "Home" isn't at all like the first two. its actually produced by the chicks under their own label out of austin texas(i think their label is a sublet of sony).

Re: Even Country music is betraying us

This pisses me off big time. I'm sick and tired of these stars who are multi millionare's made that way by us regular americans putting down the U.S. and our president. Even more so when they do it in another country.
But on the other side of this there is a country singer(can't recallhis name) who just came out with a song that in generak talks about remembering 9/11. At least one of these stars has there head screwed on strait.

Re: Even Country music is betraying us

Hate to say it,and Im glad that they made a public apology and all,but Ill never view them the same again and I think others might feel the same way.I read what she said in the paper and she included"war is worthless, innocent lives are takin from us"in so many words.Im sorry NATALIE,but do we need another 9/11 as a reminder that many more innocent people's lives are lost when countrys/leaders do nothing?Sheesh, shes only like 24 or something. How would she know whats best for our country and what makes here think that we would listen to her as speaking awe inspiring words because shes a Dixie Chick.....please....
