Re: President just flew into town!
Hell yeah he was here. My company got the fuel contract for Air Force 1. We pumped something like 3800 gallons of Jet A into Air Force 1. Made for a nice fuel commission. I spent all day out on the freight ramp at GRR. I froze my ass off, but it was cool. I helped with the Press Plane, the one that brought all the CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, and Fox dorks (except for the Fox people) by parking it, bringing up the stairs, unloading all their equipment (I made extra sure to bang all the boxes as hard as I could, even dropped one), and then doing the opposite when they left. We made friends with one of the head Secret Service guys and they let myself and my coworker George sit out front and watch GW get off the plane. We were back a ways, but they chased all the other "non-Presidential" people off the ramp, so it was just a bunch of people in business suits, trench coats, and other nice stuff.................and me and George in our grubby work clothes. I got to see him get off and wave at the crowd. He shook some hands and left.
Oh yeah, the great part was the "mob" of protesters out in front of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. What a bunch of loosers. About 1pm I went to grab some food. Like 10-15 people standing out front, just sorta milling around. One person looked like they had a sign, but wasn't even holding it up. They were all just standing there in a snowbank. Morons. This fat lady was standing out front waving her hands at everyone. If there was more slush on the ground I would have splashed them. Great part was GW's motorcade went out of a freight entrance on the far side of the airport that is normally padlocked shut. They didn't even go through the main airport entrance. So those morons stood out their in the cold for pretty much no reason. They were also parked illegally, so I think they got in trouble for that too.
Oh yeah, Sparty, he rode in one of the newer Suburbans. 2500HD with what I think was a 8.1L. No diesel smoke. Defintaly not a stock engine though.
GO GW!
Oh yeah (again), he also has a Suburban on his ranch. I remember seeing it during the campaign a few times. Dark green 88-99 body style.
