Re: Who\'s got sub\'s in their truck?

OOOOHHH, My second (or in case my g/f is reading - third) love!!

I run:
1 RF 9300 Head Unit
2 Lightning Audio 6-1/2's
2 Lightning Audio 6x8's (or 5x7's)
1 RF Power 1050s Amp
2 RF 12" HE2 Subs
1 Kicker ZR360 (modified)
2 RF 10" Punch z's (full range truck boxes)
1 Pyramid X-over
All Lightning Audio Wiring
and a Q-logic bandpass (Huge!! Takes up at least half of my cargo area, and comes up to my back window)

I love every thing! In the future I'm planning some upgrades, though.

Change out to RF 12" Power HX2's
add on a 2nd RF 1050s amp, and a better alternator.

One thing to note about the RF amps though is the overheating factor. Mine is in open space and I can't run mine for over 20-30minutes at a loud volume. I need to get a cooling fan for it.

Re: Who\'s got sub\'s in their truck?

used to have 4 jl 10's and a 500W kicker in the bronco but i listen/talk on the CB on trips and otherwise spend little time in the Bronco, so i finally sold it to my neighbor, who put it in an extended cab (hahaha, bout 4" extended) Yota truck. Loud? Uhh yeah it is his back glass is gonna fall out if he keeps running it like he does (seriously, i think it will). anyway, here's pics of the subs back when they were in my car, and the speaker wall i had in there for a little while:

yeah, it took me all night to cut those holes with the jigsaw and wire all 36 of those up

Re: Who\'s got sub\'s in their truck?

wow.....that is the most speakers i have ever seen in one car.

in church on sunday i was thinking about all of the stuff i have done to the truck, and that the only audio improvment had been the jvc cd player. so by sunday night i had replaced all of my stock speakers with polk 4x6's. sounded really good and clear.....but not enough. my friend had a hi fonics amp that he bought brand new but never hooked up, it just sat in his basement, so i gave him $150.00 for it. it was well worth it because it is 400x1 and i ran it to an infinity 12". doesnt sound like much i know but with all of that power and being in a reg cab truck it is really loud.

Re: Who\'s got sub\'s in their truck?

I've currently got this http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthbox/superduty_bench.html running in my truck. I know JL Audio isn't the greatest but nobody else makes a box for my truck. I'm pushing it with an MTX 6152 series amp. It sounds pretty good but I figure when I blow the sub I'll replace it with a better one and use the same box. The box is awesome, you can't even tell that it's there. You can still use the center seat, but I wouldn't use it for a long trip cause your @ss would go numb from the vibrations. The ladies seem to like it though.

I'm in the process of adding a box in my bed that has 4 horn tweeters, 4 mid range cones, and 2 15" subs, all MTX.

I'm still running the stock cd/tape head unit but will eventually upgrade it and the door speakers.

I figure after that it'll sound pretty good.

Re: Who\'s got sub\'s in their truck?

Why do I not find having all that space for speakers nothing but a waste. Why cram all kinds of speakers, amps, boxes, etc. into a regular cab truck when space is a limited thing? I am not nocking it, if it your thing thats cool. But would you rather have some room in the truck or trunk??

Re: Who\'s got sub\'s in their truck?

my amp is mounted under the seat, not much else fits under there anyways. i have one truck box with one 12 in it behind the seat. now i also have a blanket, american flag, jumper cables, tools, hitches, etc...behind the seat. also i have a 8' bed on my truck to not be worried about space.
plus i love my music loud

umm, yes they are! JL has always been right up there at the top as far as quality and performance, and anybody that tells you otherwise is a fibber

yeah speakers are a dumb way of wasting space... I turned a 5-seater car with a trunk into a vehicle with less room than a Samurai that's the main reason i sold the subs, even in the bronco they took up more room than i cared to give up.
