Cholesterol - Poll offshoot

ok guys, not all cholesterol is bad.

the LDL(low density lipoproteins) cholesterol is bad. it carries fats into the arteries and collects there.

HDL(high density lipoproteins) cholesterol is good. it carries fats out of the arteries and backto the liver where it can either be stored or broken down for energy/waste.

there are 2 other types of cholesterol..VLDL(very low density lipoproteins) and ___ i for get the other one....

btw, cholesterol is only found in animal proteins, so don't let advertisements trick you

Re: Cholesterol - Poll offshoot

I like that there is good and bad cholesterol. But who know the difference on the label? I say we just talk about beer. Carbs are a good thing unless thats all you have.

Re: Cholesterol - Poll offshoot

actually, a lot of people know the difference...the info is in books you know but for those that don't, saturated fat is the fat that you'd want to reduce/intake in moderation to keep your cholesterol level in check.

saturated fats are solid at room temperature...unsaturated fats are liquid. so, when you eat them, the ease of breakdown is a direct result of the fat's structure... liquuid fats breakdown faster and easier than the solid fats do. the carbons in saturated fats are fully loaded with Hydrogen(hence the name "saturated"). and to get rid of hydrogen in the body, you need more O2 to burn them....so, to burn body fat, you need aerobic exercise..ie, more uptake of O2 at longer durations.

Re: Cholesterol - Poll offshoot

beer good, carbs bad... compromise: a couple good beers, or lots of Michelob Ultra
theoretically, if i keep my carbs ultra low the rest of the day, i can have a half-case of Ultra everyday without breaking my diet
