Nylon melted on chrome pipes

Has anyone ever had to get melted nylon (from a MC cover) off their motorcycle's chrome tail pipes? If so, anything you can recommend to get my chrome clean? I've heated them up and tried to wipe the stuff off with a towel, that got most of it off. Chrome polish doesn't even touch it. Anyone know of a chemical that will get it off without damaging the chrome? Any help would be appreciated!

nylon has great adheasion to metals (thats why the factory usses it in holding "U" joints in). I would heat it as high as you can without discoloring the chrome. Then take the finest steel wool you can find and "polish" it off. If it marks up the surface a little, you can repolish the chrome with rubbing compound.

Oven Off or Easy Off, or whatever that oven cleaner stuff is called. Should work, but I've never used it on chrome, so I can't say it wouldn't hurt it. Just a thought.
