Gearing Update!

ROCKHOPPER DEVELOPMENT SCHEDULE FOR THE YEAR 2000. (revised May 2000)

As a result of many e-mail requests for Rockhopper gear sets over the past 5 months, the following is our schedule for the year 2000 development. As always, we welcome imput and comments from 4WD enthusiasts around the world as to:

What vehicle application is being sort after?
What ratio you are looking for - this includes request of change of ratio from current production
Due to enthusiast's running 35" tyres of larger, the low range ratio is now too fast for 4 wheel driving. This has led us to the development of Suzuki Sierra Series 2 ratios.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May - June

Nissan Pathfinder - Design and development has started.
Landcruiser 40, 60, & 70 series - Produce a test gear set from drawings. Std. Gear ratio 1.96:1 this will be changed to 3.269:1 effective change will be 68.2%. Design of the high range will investigated for possible 1.1:1
Preproduction is now completed and will undergo vehicle testing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following development has been delayed. It will now be June - July 2000

Suzuki Sierra Series 1 - design change to the old gear set for greater strenght so as to suit 2.0ltr. and 2.5ltr engines.
Suzuki Sierra Series 2 - Test and check preproduction gear set for ratio suitability & strength
Nissan Patrol - Design and development will start.
NOTE: Any help and input re the Nissan gear set will be most welcome. Including the range and different names around the world of the Nissan Patrol would be appreciated as these would all run the same transfer case. When did the change from gear to planetary take place?
