exhaust

Has anybody put a catback or performance muffler on there V6? I want it loud, but would like to avoid the raspy "rice" sound. Ive got a BIG hole in the muffler, it gives the truck that "honda fart-pipe" sound. .
thanks

Ben

Re: exhaust

i'd go w/a custom cat-back exhaust w/flowmaster muffler.
it will definitely eliminate the "ricey" sound & give your truck some balls!

Re: exhaust

Have you heard a V6 with a Flowmaster? how does it sound? Two chamber or three chamber?

Re: exhaust

I've bought a Hooker Performance Muffler for my SE-V6 Pathfinder from Automotive Customizers (along with a K&N intake air box replacement). Ever heard the exhaust note of a 4.3 V6 Vortec Blazer? Well it sounds like that. I hate "rice" sounds or accessories, so believe me.

Re: exhaust

The muffler size is 2 1/4" med offset if I remember right. Im sure on the 2 1/4" though. Ive had a three chamber flowmaster on mine (with headers and high flow cat) sounded good with factory manifolds and factory cat. Was way too loud with my other components though. Running a magnaflow now, like it much better than the flowmaster. Its not as loud, but has a little different tone. Just my thoughts.....

Re: exhaust

Rockfinder, here you may check the Hookers muffler, I've liked it quite a lot (adviced by Mike from Automotive Customizers): http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin.../ESM/Aero.html

Re: exhaust

i run a magnaflow with 2 1/2 in inlet and oulet and 2 1/2 in tailpipe and it sounds really good and I did see a little better performance. I would recommend instead of buying some high dollar kit find a good muffler shop and choose your muffler and have them bent the pipe. You'll be money ahead in the long run.
