1986.5 Hardbody driveline vibes

Hi guys-

I just finished installing a new driveshaft center support bearing in my Dad's bone-stock 1986.5 Hardbody extracab 4x4. The old bearing was completely trashed, causing a nasty squeaking noise. Since the installation of the new part, I'm getting a nasty vibration from takeoff to 15 or 20mph, while accelerating or decelerating. I had the parts guys at the Toyota dealership I work at order the part from the local Nissan dealership, so I think the bearing is good.

One thing to note, after the installation, it seems as if the rear section of the driveshaft is 1/4" too short to mate to the front portion- I had do "draw" it together with the driveshaft bolts, causing the rubber mount on the bearing to flex a little. I'm a Toyota mechanic, and ours never fit like that, but I had nothing to compare Dads Nissan to. Any chance I got the incorrect bearing from the Nissan Dealer? Is the rubber mount supposed to be preloaded like it is? Should I just stick to working on 'Yotas?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Please respond directly to [email protected]
