ok, I have been calling around to several wrecking yards here in Seattle. What is the difference between these transfer cases. The 208 bolt on that bolts to the tranny and the 208 slip on that slips onto the yoke. Is one better than another? I'm going to contect it to a NP 435.. Thanks Pete
Like I said, I'd go fixed personally. Jeepers spends tons of money for SYE's (slip yoke eliminator kits) to improve their driveline angle and make it possible to limp off the trail with no rear d/s.
If you're putting it in a project and you're gonna build your own d'shafts, get the cheaper one. If you want a direct replacement in a pickup, get the slip.
Is this what we're talking about here? The top setup is how my truck is ... I dunno 'bout the Bronco's.
Mine's a slip-shaft, not a slip-yoke ... therein (apparently) lies the $200 difference!
There's an exception to EVERY rule, especially with Fords in the early 80s, but I still believe the vast majority of pickups have slip yokes.
