I am rebuilding my carb and a nice gentleman on the board helped me out with the suzuki shop manual instructions. One of the directions entails using a "negative screwdriver." anybody have a clue what that is? Also, when i reinstall my carb, should I use some kind of gasket sealant or just leave them "dry." I am sure that gasket sealant isn't what I mean, but i have done things in the past where you applied some goo to the gasket and the name escapes me right now. thanks

thats as good as i could figure as well. I thought maybe they meant a pesimist screwdriver. But what does a screwdriver have to complain about, all it does is screw all the time.....

OK I just got home and looked up the carb overhaul section. I have a guess what they mean
about "negative" screwdriver. The are talking about removal of the jets in the float bowl, and
any damage to the jet can cause it not to flow properly. Using a screw driver with the usual
tapered grind can cause it to slip on the soft brass and damage those jets.

A hollow ground screwdrver that fits tight is less likely to slip. So my guess is "negative" screwdriver
means a hollow ground screwdriver. These are commonly sold to gunsmiths as they must have
tight fitting hollow ground drivers or they will tear up thre heads of the screws, if they don't
slip and damage the blueing on the gun.
