cj5 360 exhaust Y pipe question?

I need the Y pipe for a AMC v8 in my 79 cj5? My questions are- 4wd hardware has one for about $125, but they say it will only fit with a 3 speed, I have a T18? will it work? Also I am using a 360 out of a wagoneer, so I have a different exhaust manifold then the 304 will this be a problem with this piece?

How much should it cost me if I just took it to a muffler shop and had them fab up a rear dump single exhaust for the CJ?

Thanks
Tony

I have heard that the Waggie manifolds would not work, but I am unsure of where I heard it or who said it. I have a 360 in my Cj-5 and I paid about $150 for duals which exit right in front of the rear tire. The next time I do the exhaust I will have the exhaust dump at the rear. I hope this helps.

so you have a 360 with the cj304 exhaust manifolds? And you paid $150 to get duals exhaust ran from the manifolds back out in front of the rear wheels?
I have heard that the waggy manifolds wont work, but then I heard that they will? Not exactly sure? I am just go with headers, because of how easy they are? But would rather have the headers?

Yes i have a 360. Not sure what the manifolds are. I believe they are the 304 CJ manifolds not sure. $150 is about what I paid. I would probably go with headers as well if I wanted to put more money into the engine. I already have $300 into the motor already and do not feel I need to put any more into it. It has a Performer Manifold and a Carter Carb. I got lucky when I bought this motor. Very lucky.

No, the Y pipe won`t fit with a T-18. I recently had new dual`s put on my `72 CJ5 because of a D-60 rearend swap. Mineke charged me $200 for all new 2 1/2 exhaust that went all the way to the back. I did supply the mufflers because they were like new. They did an exellent job despite the lack of room. Kept everything high and tight. I would think you could get a single system done alot cheaper. The manifolds you have should work fine, Mine are the same as yours. I`m running a 401 and T-18 also. Stay away from headers if at all possible, I broke 3 sets on another `73 CJ5 I had before I went back to stock manifolds.

Thanks for hte help

I was afraid that it would not work, especially with the 360 manifold. I would like to avoid the problems w/ headers so I will probably have a shop bend me a system. Thanks for your help
