I went to the dealer the other day to check on prices and availability of the stuff used on the new HD's. It turns out it would be near $1000 with all factory parts. And still cost too much using some parts bought from a parts store. This didn't include the parking brake cable.

I had seem their conversion and was wondering if the factory parts would be cheaper/easier wsa to go. I will probably end up going with the 3/4 front calipers and find someone that still makes the braket for them. Then get a hold of Jesse at High Agle and get the parking brake that will go on the back of the 205

for $90 you can get the backing plates from shakerbuilt (or ebay) then find some junk yard rotors and calapers off a 74-77 dana 44 front end (or whenever the large external hubs are on them) Then just gotta get hte line figured out.

Have you looked into the price of that parking brake from High Angle? With all of the parts required it runs about $700, and that doesn't even include having a new rear shaft made
. It's a sweet setup though, I am probably going to get it anyways. In the long run it's easier and more powerful than the Caddy calipers.

Ryan, I know I need the paring brake for 2 reasons. 1. my parking pawl doens't work, 2. it is checked during the TX state inspection. They put it in drive and your P-brake has to hold the vehicle. Failed for that once. It just needed to be readjusted.

Shaggy, I thought it listed for about 450. Is there more that needs to be purchased to make it work? Besides getting the rear shaft redone? I have to get my shaft modified sometime any way once the rear axle gets moved forward. And if I get a doubler than it will definately need modifications.

Parts you need are -

ebrake kit for $269
CV assembly for $300
t-case flange for $109
Add shipping and that's pretty much $700.

You can get it with a ujoint instead of a CV for about $475, but it only has like 12 degrees of motion at the yoke so it probably isn't enough movement.

Oh yea. Hell I'm in Texas and we share the same name. I should have known that. My Burban failed the inspection just the other day. I took a sawzall to my exhaust when I installed the shackle flip. It failed cause it does not point down away from the cab of the vehicle. Stupid****!!!

Laters, Ryan

TSM also sells the brackets and rotors by themselves. I used the calipers from my dana 44 front end on the rear. The rear calipers with the emergency brakes can be purchased from Auto Zone for about $110 each rebuilt. I got a set from the junk yard for $15 but the rebuild kits don't have all the parts I needed and the were obsolete from GM, I could still use them for cores. TSM has the address of a company that makes cables for the emergency brakes.

Shaggy, all i need is the kit and the flange and shipping. I have a Two piece drive shaft that has almost no angle to it at all for the front half. That long wheel base is finally good for something.

Ryan. Mine failed 4 years ago for a hole in the exhaust smaller than a dime only 10 inches from the end of the pipe. The hole came from the pipe hitting the rear spring hanger. I used one of those exhaust repair kits sold at auto zone to fix it. You have to provide a piece of metal for the patch to work and I used part of a diet pepsi can. the guy looked at me and said I can't do it that way whne I went back. I looked at him and said "Is there a hole there anymore?" He said no and passed me.

DRat, for the disc donversion with e-brakes you use 76-78 Caddy Eldorado calipers. Any Eldo brakes later than that will not work. Expect to pay around $150 with the core charge for rebuilt ones at the parts store, then you need to buy the e-brake hardware (lever arm, spring, and something else I think...) from a Caddy dealer for about $30-40 per side, or get those parts off of some cores if you can find them in a yard.
