You have to have more info for that question. My daughters Phazer would probably take a stock SRV. But it is piped, and has had some other work done to it. Your question is too broad.

both stock, 7000 KM on the srv, not sure on the phazer but prbably real close. both are in excellent shape for their age. BTW, how much performance did you get from adding the pipe?

ok. from the overwhemling response i think ill rephrase the question. how fast does a phazer go? im sure somebody has owned a stock phazer. how fast does a srv go? i know from other posts that people own srvs, so how fast do they go?? any response would be helpful

I'v heard SRV's are fast but I'v never ridden one. I have riden phazers though and they go pretty good stock
and they can realy fly if there piped ported&polished. Both should be realy reliable. But avoid 90-93 phazers with high milage
though I'v heard that the cranks go and your than your whole engine is hooped.

Your question is still too vague. How much do the riders weigh? My daughters Phazer will do just over 80mph. That is with a pipe and an 1-1/8 camoplast track. Does the Phazer you are talking about have an aggressive track, or like a 5/8 block pattern? I think that with the SRV having a single carb, and where the phazer has twinnners, plus the lightness of the Phazer, If I had to put money on it, I would probably lean towards the Phazer (with the drivers being the same weight). But I think it might be 6's.

jeez, thats kinda slow for a pipe and a good track, i found a bit more info and if your daughters phazer only does in the low 80's, then a stock srv will beat it or at least match it, that is in top speed of course.

I rode a phazer. It was my friends. there parents said it was a 440. It is real reliable. But sucks major if you ride on the lakes like we do were there is 4 to inches of slush on top of the ice. Because it takes for ever to hydro over the slush. But other than than that they are pretty quick.

I own a 89 srv with 6700 miles , stock track, single carb,no modifications with the exception of plastic ski skins. The sled will top out at 85 or so.It's to dam hard to see the speedo on the handbars. I've never ridden a phazer or lined one up next to . I do have a buddy that has a 93 700 tripe polaris that would rather ride my srv then his sled for the reason of it being so snappie. This year I've got a kimplex 1" aggressor track,Bender racing pipe, reeds and dual angle helix . We'll see what difference that makes.

couldn't tell you. i can tell you that it's a gas hog though.i've ran
out of gas once on the trail in the dark returning from a ride in derby vermont
while everyone else had 1/4 tank left. This nice guy (maybe) that lived off the trail made me shovel his driveway for 1 gallon to get my sled to the road while everyone rode to get the trailer. The owner of the house rode a ski-doo of cource.

I have a web site with pics of my sled

Well, like others have replied, there ara a lot of variables to consider. Anyway, I've owned a couple of Phazers and a good friend used to ride an SRV. Here are a couple of things that might help: The Phazer has a 488 cc motor and I think the Srv has a 540cc. However, the Phazer has twin carbs where the SRV has a single carb. Also, the SRV is considerably heavier than the Phazer. In deep snow, the SRV was way to heavy in the front and got stuck a lot. Phazers are known to be pretty good deep snow sleds for the money when set up correctly. Finally, Yamaha carried the Phazer line a lot longer than the SRVs. Hope this helps.

i will now answer my own question based on other stuff i found

the srv will be faster than a phazer of similar vintage, but not by much. the srv will go faster due to the 55 more cc's. it is only 30 pounds heavier than a phazer, which could be accouted for in gas and fluids. a srv will do 85 mph, more if tuned and moded, phazer is just a bit lower. the srv lasted until 91. i think they started them in 80, so that's 11 years. phazer started in 84 and ended in 97, (not really, but they changed it drastically, a 00 phazer weighs 464 pounds) so thats 13 years. not much difference.

As a former SRV owner,owned a 84 & 86 SRV

Stock SRV vs stock Phazer, the SRV will beat the Phazer easily.

SRV 535cc 63hp vs Phazer 56hp

Piped Phazers are quicker.

I don't know how you can say that the SRV is heavy??? 430lbs is not heavy,
My SRV would run circles around my buddies sleds even my Indy 500.

SRVs with a good track are awesome in powder

The SRV was good on gas 70-80miles per gas tank or 12-14mpg BUT with a small 5.8gallon gas tank it seemed like it use a lot of gas yet they were actually great on gas.

When i sold my 86 SRV it had over 27,000km or 18,000miles.

When Yamaha released the 99 Phazer 500, they should have used the 535cc SRV engine with twin carbs, called it the SRV 540 because they brought back the SRX name and the PHAZER name has been tarnished the last few years in the old body style,A newer SRV 540 would have been better suited to compete with the SuperSport 550.

Oh ya forgot, went on trip it cost me $34 buck of gas compare to $40+ that my friends paid for their FIII,FZ,ZRTs and $50 EXT 580efis.All filled up at the same times and all with same premium gas.

My 93 Phazer will consitently run about 84-85 MPH. I've once brought it to 90 MPH (conditions were perfect). It is completly stock, the track is also stock. A pipe will be added soon though. All of these figures are from my speedo, I will get it gunned soon and I'll post the results then...

Why don't you just race the other guy with the Phazer? Then you'll know for sure.
