I recently purchased a '83 CJ-7 Laredo (My first Jeep!) and I've discovered something odd. It doesen't have the windshield tie down kit on the hood. It is the original hood from the CJ-7 (factory paint, decal, hood pad). There were never any holes in the hood for these items (bumpers & footman loop). Is this some rare occurance ? I'm wondering if I should put the holes in this hood, or find someone who wants to swap for a hood that has the tie downs. I don't want to wreck the hood if it is some rare piece, but I want to be able to drop the windshield when I go wheelin'. Thanks in advance!/wwwthreads_images/icons/shocked.gif

I don't think your hood is worth any more than any one elses. maybe it was replaced and the decals were redone? anyway to answer your question 4wd hardware has a kit with the tiedowns nad all for like $5. don't go too fast with that windsheild down.
Sort of a related question that goes along with the above. I've got all the hardware that bolts into the hood (footman loop and 2 standoffs), but I don't have anything connected to the inside on my windshiled frame. Can anyone tell me what is supposed to be there? I'm assuming another loop like the footman on the hood, but then what actually holds down the windshield...velcro??? Thanks!

There is a footman loop on the center of the windshield on the inside and a strap that goes between both i bought mine at the dealer for about $10.00 total
Thats wierd, I've got the footman loop on the w/s frame, but nothing on the hood. I bought the ss tie down kit from 4WD Hardware ($11.00) and plan on installing it. As a note to a previous reply...the hood is original, it has about the same amount of decay as the rest of the body.
