I have a T18-1E in my CJ, I bought the jeep from a guy who installed this tranny. I do not know what the 1A means. Is it the good 6 to 1 or the 4 to 1? Reverse is up by 3rd, I believe this is roughly a 78-79 is box, is this a correct assumption?
Thanks for the reply, I have seen that sight before. The only thing that I am sure of is that it is a pre-79 box because reverse is up by third. I guess the only sure way to find out if its 6.32 to 1 is to take the top cover off and count the input shaft.

No, the easy way is to put it into 1st, low range, let the clutch out and let it idle along. If it's well slower than walking speed, it's 6:1. There is really a pretty big difference between 6:1 and 4:1
My T-18a with 4.88's and 33's goes about 2mph in first gear and low range.
