I have a 2000 Tahoe new body style and 5.3, 4x4. The brake and abs lights are on constantly on the dash. I have checked / pulled the ABS fuse, disconnected the battery, and checked the brake fluid. My friend had a code reader so I hooked that up and it didn't read any codes and didn't have any codes to clear. Does anyone have any advice? Or do I have to break down and go to the dealership? These new cars are such a pain to work on. Thanks,
David
1. If I were the Pope,
2. I'd have to bless you.
3. You're going to need it.
4. There's likely a problem in the ABS...
5. And IMHO... without proper diagnostic equipment,
6. It is a shop problem.
It sounds like your ABS motor has went south. I have a 2003 Silverado and one day out of the blue the ABS light came on. When I got home and shut off the truck I could hear the ABS motor still running. So I crawled under the truck to make sure that the motor was running. Low and behold, that sucker was getting pretty darned hot. So I disconnected the wiring plug from it and took it into the dealer (warranty). The service guy told me that he has seen this alot on Tahoes but not that much on Silverados.
