Now I haven't seen it yet, just starting to watch the re-run, but the jeep rolling at the very start?? Yellow jeep, with red cage.. It was a quick shot, and could be anything, but I would have said that it was H8's.. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Everytime I see a yellow jeep/rock buggy I wonder if it is H8! LOL!

The show was OK, I like the funky steering/suspension on the front of the VW bus [bleep] rockcrawler...an ingenious idea. If that thing had been 4wd it would have won much quicker.

The course was actually amusing. My warmed over CJ5 would have kicked both of their butts in short order.

On a broader note, I don't like this new style/season of JYW nearly as well. The new idea of having captains pick teams every episode is cool, but takes away some of the "who is competing this week" fun. Also, I don't like how they are pushing the "extreme" and "real TV" (like American Chopper) themes. Seems overly staged nowdays.

On a further side note, I met "Bob" from the High Flyers team this summer! (the High Flyers had the ex-Governor of Montana on their team) Bob just happens to be the pilot of a Super Corsair, the Sohio race number 57. A bad boy Unlimited Air Racer. He was at Arctic Thunder with a BEAUTIFUL P-51 Mustang. Got to talk to him for a while.....he was a great guy.

I'm right with you on the new season. Endless time wasted with shots of the hosts mugging for the camera, quick cuts from one scene to the other that seem designed to obscure what's happening, lots of shots of guys running around in the junkyard and looking under stuff - what happened to The Learning Channel? After the show, try to think of something usefull you've just learned.

I'm pretty much off of it. It drives me crazy to watch those idiots - hosts and team members - doing silly stuff when they could be showing something usefull. Phooey!

And how in the world did they avoid killing somebody in that melange? Ropes and pipes and junk everywhere, bodies falling down in front of moving vehicles, ropes wrapped around wrists . . . I thought there would be blood spilled for sure.

I kinda liked Driveshaft on FX. Its sort of monster garage meets junkyard wars. They match rookie builders with "experts" and the match isn't always good. Last weekend they built Indy cars our of two mid 90's economy sedans.... not bad. lots of yelling and interesting builds so far.

I will admit when they built the snow mobile gizmos a couple weeks ago, I liked the idea of the archmedes screw. I've seen a couple boats with them. Only problem is they used too small an engine.

I think it was last year when they had the car crushing/monster truck competition...they re-aired it a few weeks ago.....had to love it....Bob Chandlar as the judge!

I think the hosts get worse with every season. I now long for the original hosts and format.

Crash - only two episodes in (right?) and he seems to do no work and only succeeds in making everyon else mad. He seems to want to be a boss and not do anything. I could not believe last week that when they had trouble with the boat motor the first thing they wanted to do was remove all the plug wires. One guy said, we don't know the firing order, how can you just pull them off and start moving them around?? They pulled them anyways and spent hours trying to get it running.

Well, after watching about 15 minutes of the "NEW AND IMPROVED" format, I was wishing that I had never made the post in the first place. I used to really like the show, but what I saw that night was not very impressive. In fact, I didn't even finish the episode.
I just never see anything on TV related to wheeling and was pumped when I found this and thought I'd let people know.

Next time I paint something I'll be sure to post it so you can all come over and watch it dry.

Jim
