body lift question

I have had my 89 yj for about six months now. I have added 31" rubber with some 10" wheels. Thus we now have rubbing when the jeep is full and on ruff terrain or on a bumpy road. I was thinking of a 2" body lift to cure the rubbing, but, in reading some other post about BL's it seems that most jeepers recomend sticking with a max of 1" BL. In reading here it seems anything beyond 1" is frowned upon due to the tub flexing among other reasons. Well just call me a *******, cause I would like to go higher without doing much to the suspension. I do most of my off roading here on the coast in the sand,so I am not a rock climber, I have an occasional calling from a mud hole(thats either a ******* thing or a jeep thing, not sure which) but I really have no need to go high other than for some mild rubbing and the fact that I personally like to ride higher than stock. I have thought about the SOA but I am somewhat hesitant with that, because next to my 86 K5 Blazer with a 2.5" lift the jeep rides fairly decent. I have read other posts knocking the SOA's also. Any comments or advice would be appreciated.....

Have you thought about a set of TJ flares? That'll give you some extra clearance. You said you mainly play in the sand...does that include jumping it? Because that'll cause some strain on 3" body lifts. As for SOA's, I've had a few guys say my Jeep handles better than their stock YJ's do.

I recently put a 1in body lift on my CJ. I was suprised at how much more room it gave me. Have you looked at the add-a-leaf kits? They ride rough but they are cheap and fairly easy to install. They give you roughly 2 inches.

2" body lift on mine for a long time and no problems. Just keep it tight. (regular maint.) I wouldn't recomend going higher. Also I "hid" mine. I didn't like the looks of it.(now you can't tell it's there.....very easily)

Thanks for the input guys.....As for the 31" and 10" wheels....they work great for what I do mostly and that is ride in the sand....the 10" wheels give the fattness for staying on top of the sand.....as for on the road....I have no complaints at all, the ride is good, but I have not had them on long enough to reply on tire wear...and with all the rubber hanging out my two sons love it when I hit a mud hole so they can wash their faces....

I would really like to go with the 2" body lift and maybe a 1" shackle lift down the road...(any comments on this maybe?).......I don't won't to get to rad since this is my daily driver....thanks again for ya'lls input.....

I have a 2"body lift and a 1 1/2"shackle lift with 33"s. I will be going to a 4" lift in the next year. I would put a add a leaf on,before I put on a shackle lift.
