a few questions

First off let me say i am new to the suzuki world.
as most of you already know.
my rig is a 92 sidekick with a 1.6 16vavle 4wheel drive.
I ahve heard you can add an after market coil to these rigs but you have to mount the ignitor to the firewall, with that being true is the ignitor the little square thing that sits on the coil mounting brackets? if not can i get a pic or something pointing me to the right part?

Second i know this is going to sound stupid but shoudn't this rig be able to crawl over a standard curb in 4 wheel high? it can crawl over it in 4 wheel low without to much trouble and i was basically wondering if this rig could operate in 4 low but not 4 high? should i get this thing off the ground and check to see if it is working? i suppose i should mention this rig is a standard 5 speed tranny.

Third how difficult is it to add an electric fan to these? do i just have to remove the fan and fan clutch or do i have to remove the pulley in place for a new one?

Thanks in advance i really appreciate it guys.

Re: a few questions

#1 I don't know.

#2 It should be able to go over a std curb in 2wd.
what's stopping it? Do you have really non-aggressive tires?

#3 an electric fan is not too hard to put in a samurai, so its porbably no harder in a tracker/sidekick, but they arent cheap and there is considerable debate on whether theres really any compelling reason to do so.

Re: a few questions

why do you want an aftermarket coil? have you done any engine mods? I doubt any gain will be seen from an aftermarket coil.
as for the crawling issue, are your tires stock? a larger tire will be harder to turn but will also be easier to go up and over a square curb. Raising the vehicle would help but if 4-lo works, 4-hi should be also.
adding an electric fan is easy, remove the stock fan and clutch, put some washers and nuts with locktite on the threads to keep the pulley tight and you'll have plenty of room for an eletric fan. or you could keep the stock clutch fan and mount a pusher fan in front of the radiator for a supplementary cooling fan.

Re: a few questions

i was thinking a good aftermarket coil for two reasons price and reliablity. it is cheaper her to gte aftermarket, and i here the coils on a sami are weak to begin with, i was also thinking the same for the fan, ie fan clutch 140.00 electric fan 99.00,

As far as the curb thing i was out playing yesterday and when i pulled the car up to a curb i put the rig in f whell drive high and when i let out the clutch and gave it gas it just bogged down, 4 whell low it went up no problem, i have long felt when the rig get to running temp i have less power, any ideas on what that could be?
a side note when i had the rig on a gravel trail it seemed to crawl up it well but not really well in second but i took that as a problem do to the steep terrain.i say 25% angle of assent.is it a power issue?

p.s. stock 205/75/15 a/t tires

Re: a few questions

Curbs; don't have 'em here (thank God). Well, okay, if you drive a few miles and go into one of the new foo-foo housing developments they do, but I didn't move 67 miles from work to have stinkin' curbs, sidewalks and streetlights... (Sorry, got carried away...
)

Anyway, if you're running stock tires, of which almost half the diameter of the tire would be eaten up by a decent size curb, then basically, you might as well be trying to nose up a steep wall. If it runs okay otherwise, don't give it a second thought. If your daily driving dictates you must negotiate a curb and you're already in two-high, then take the bugger at an angle, one tire at a time.
