OK...stock bumper is off......should I cut off those two round pieces one either side of frame ?

When mounting another bumper, do you mount to those four holes on frame? or is there someplace stronger to mount too ?

I cut the ends off the parts that the stock bumper mounts to. Then I jammed a piece that was a bit longer so it hung out the sides and welded it to the existing tube. I did that to the rear too. I will send you a pic... PM me your email addy.

you defniintely want to lop off the ends of that stupid stock bumper mount thing. A lot of different things bolt into those four holes, some of them conflict with each other, so plan ahead.

For instance, when I had the Calmini Shackle reverse, the front towers or "fangs" used those holes. The smittybuilt front bumper i have at the moment also wanted those holes, so I had to BFH the bumper mounts to get them to accomodate the extra width of the spring mount towers over the holes.

I took off the s/r and the little bumpstoppy things that the folding shackles in the front sit against with my new YJ and missing link setup also want those holes.

Some bumpers and some suspension components conflict because of the popularity of those holes. It is best to do some research to figure out if whatever you are planning will work.

Hummmmmmmmmm..so I guess you have to plan out what shackles your going to use in order to plan what bumper your going to use.
Basiclly I wanted to go with new shackles and seeing how I'am SPOA I wanted to go with longer shocks. Seeing how the stock bumper is off, thought I'd see how another one would be mounted. I like the "other" bumpers such as Shrock but has no funds for EVERYTHING I wanna do to it. So is thinking of just useing some 2x6 C channel that I can get my hands on. I don't want to put any lights into bumper so it will be simple. Maybe some D rings and a reciever .

Take a look at Mini4x's front bumper, it's the model of simplicity!

Plus..what's the hurry? I am getting a pretty good pile of good and $$$ stuff on my rig without ever having dropped any huge wads of cash all at once. I just decide what I'm looking for then keep my eyes open while I wait to see the stuff for sale used or on sale. Even if I don't get exactly what I want right away, I get what I can afford and use it or eventually trade it or whatever.

I wanted YJs pretty much from the start and it took me about 2 years of waiting and watrching and buying and trading to get there. I knew I couldn't just drop all the cash to get all the stuff, so I didn't worry about it. The Sami was fun from day one and every little thing I did to it made it better.

II think if you lose this idea that everything has to be prefect and preplanned and bought all in one big orgasm of spending then you will save yourself alot of grief. Just do what you can. Sounds like CTBrent has a nice RUF/CJ setup on the block shortly..that could be a really nice choice for you.

yep...is like I wanna do except I wanna angle the ends @ a 45.....at one time I was going to order the RRO "do-it-yourself" bumpers...but I don't want the lights and they are already cut out.....I just need to find a way to mount it secure....don't want it to fall off next time I slide over a rock like the stock one did.

Oh....Brent will be selling a RUF set-up soon ?????.....Hummmmmmmmm

If you can fab the rest of it then I would say the mounts shouldntg be too hard to whip up.
