i am in the way putting landcruiser lj70 axles under my zuke. yesterday i had a talk to a toyota guy and he told me that welding the spring-pads is not so easy because the axles are made out of poured iron and his first welds didnt hold...
Is there a problem when welding them with my inert gas welder?
These are from the 1980's landcruser Yes? If so they are steel.
Clean it up good make sure you get plenty of penatration.
Zooky has a set under his sami and they are regular steel.
as long as your MIG/GTAW is in the 150-200 amp range you should have no problem.
If they are cast Just use a High Nickel welding rod with a stick welder.
Thanks Glenn......was just wondering cuz I don't know sh#t about what axles are what.
somewhere in the distant future I'd like to go with toy axles and jp springs.( unless someone comes up with a coil kit, wink)
